18-game schedule and the length of time college players have to change

ACC Nation podcast March 24 - show notes

On the show this week we talk to the genius that is Penn Holderness. The NBC 17 sports director got around NCAA regulations
about showing NCAA Tournament highlights by using dolls - thatâs right,
I said dolls - and we crawl inside his warped mind this week.
Holderness also gives us his thoughts on North Carolina and Duke
basketball.

Also on the show:

- Patrick and Q look at the Sweet 16 matchups in the NCAA Tournament;

- The guys discuss a column by Caulton Tudor of the News and Observer that places the blame for Dukeâs recent woes on a lack of leadership;

- With only one ACC team through to the Sweet 16, is the conference no longer as powerful as it once was?;

- A bracket challenge update;

ACC Nation podcast - Feb. 4

Duke and Carolina play this week and we couldnât let the game pass without discussing it with two of our favorite writers - Adam Lucas of Tar Heel Monthly and Carlos of the Duke Basketball Report.

Adam gives us an update on Carolina point guard Ty Lawson, who rolled his ankle against Florida State Sunday. Will he or wonât he play against the Devils? And if Lawson canât go, can Quentin Thomas get the job done against a tough Duke defense? Adam answers those questions, plus he is in rare form as he sounds off about what he thinks is a too-much hyped Duke-Phoenix comparison, the Gerald Henderson-Tyler Hansbrough angle to the game following last yearâs incident and Carolinaâs defensive problems.

Carlos gives us his take on Dukeâs offense and how Coach K is using the Phoenix Sunâs style to his advantage (good think Adam didnât hear him say this), what it takes to beat the Blue Devils and why he thinks, as of now, DeMarcus Nelson has to be on the first-team All ACC. And we ask Carlos if some of the luster on the game is lost if Lawson doesnât play.

Plus:

- Q Amps things up a bit at the suggestion of an e-mailer;

- Are Virginia Techâs freshmen wise beyond their years or just too young to know any better?;

- Patrick explains why he canât get excited about football recruiting, but he liked the column ESPN.comâs Heather Dinich wrote about the process;

- Itâs still up in the air as to which ACC teams will reach the NCAA Tournament, but Patrick thinks the number in the running was reduced over the weekend;

- Should Brent Musburger get a drug test?;

- Q continues his Sidney-Lowe lovefest (and gets some support from David Glenn of the ACC Journal)

- Patrick praises Clemsonâs Cliff Hammonds and N.C. Stateâs Ben McCauley;

That and more on ACC Nation this week.
